Can I add filters to a Sony DSC-HX100V?

I am about to purchase Sony cyber shot DSC HX100V. Is it the best camera in its category? Please answer to the above questions as well. I very much confused.
Thank you!
Answer:
The Sony DSC-HX100V does not have threads on the lens so you cannot add filters without purchasing some type of aftermarket adapter. However if you look online you can find instructions on how to make your own adaptor ring or there are commercially made, after-market adaptors that can be purchased for a reasonable amount.
As for shooting Formula One racing, I have never tried shooting that type of subject with an HX100V. Will it do as good of a job as a DSLR when shooting Formula One racing….of course not. Could you use it to capture some good images of Formula One racing...with the proper technique you sure can. This is a very capable super-zoom or bridge camera that produces high quality images.
In fact Popular Photography in its September 2011 issue ranked the Sony DSC-HX100V as one of the “best deals of the year.” They went on to say that their “tests found imaging performance near the DSLR level.”
As for your last question of whether or not this is the best camera in its category. From what I have seen and compared I would have to say it probably is. Keep in mind that “best” is really somewhat subjective because what I prefer or might consider more important, someone else might not. The truth is that there are several very good super-zoom cameras available for people to choose from. Doing some careful shopping and diligent research should help you choose the one that is really best for you.
